WHAT IS WOODWORM?
Woodworm is a collective term used to describe all wood-boring insects that attack wood and timber, causing structural damage in buildings.
There are a number of wood boring insects that attack timber in properties in the UK. Identifying which woodworm is present through a survey is extremely important as this determines which woodworm treatment is needed to get rid of the woodworm from the property.
WHAT IS WET ROT?
Wet rot is a generic term used to define a variety of wet rot species such as Coniophora puteana (otherwise known as cellar fungus). Wet rot fungi obtain their food by breaking down the walls of wood cells resulting in a loss of strength of the wood.
WHAT IS DRY ROT?
Dry rot is a term used to describe a very specific form of wood rot
(Serpula Lacrymans ). A wood destroying fungi/fungus, it digests the very part of the wood that gives it its integrity and strength.

Damp Proofing is a general term used to describe methods and treatments of controlling moisture that has built up within walls and floors into the interior of the property.
